okay, so i went to the grocery store and the international farmer's market...i think i'm going to start doing most of my shopping at the farmer's market because it is sooooo much cheaper! and the veggies are better. anyway, i got everything that i wanted so i can fix dinner while my dad is here....some beef stew thing (i think it's beef carbonade?), ratatouille, potatoes au gratin in my mom's style, chocolate mousse for one dessert and maple pecan croissant bread pudding. and i'm going to make the croissants from scratch so we can have those for breakfast as well. hmmm...that makes me wonder where the yeast i bought is. probably in one of the bags i didn't unpack, with the sugar in it.
not much else to say. i came home and watered my new beautiful outside plants. and i really need to clean but i'm sleepy.
oh, i invented a new beverage--cranberry georgia peach juice with ginger ale....it's verrry tasty.
okay, i guess that's all for now. maybe i'll write more later.

okay, so i have started on the croissants. they are going to take a long time, so i thought i should make them today. because there are four different rolling, buttering, and chilling processes. right now i'm waiting for the dough to rise. i hope they turn out well. if not, i suppose they will be acceptable for bread pudding...i hope.
i really should start on the mousse as well. but really what i need to do is make some coffee. and i think i want iced coffee, so really i need to make vanilla syrup...i want to do that anyway.
i hope all my food turns out well. i wonder why it is that i have to impress my dad with my culinary skills. probably because my stepmother is a good cook, and daddy really liked her non-vegetarian dishes. also i don't make my stuff low fat. and daddy isn't as picky an eater as dave. although even dave might like the stuff i am fixing for this visit. except he won't have any of it.
now i have to go make sure that the dogs aren't trying to steal the dough, since i'm letting it rise outside in the sun, hoping that's warm enough.

i start almost every one of my journal entries with one of those words...maybe i should start saying "hi" at the beginning instead....
